This past weekend 25 students from the STEM Academy attended the Pennsylvania High School United Nations Conference or PHUNC. The students in attendance competed over the course of four days to pass legislation in response to the various challenges and scenarios they encountered.
The students prepared for the weekend by researching in advance the topics that would be up for debate over the weekend. Scenarios ranged from a United States Civil War recreation with events changing from how they had happened in history up through a potential alien invasion from outer space.
The Academy was well represented by the students and was awarded Outstanding Delegation for the event, the highest honor available at the conference. Additionally, four students were recognized at Outstanding Delegate for their individual committees.
