Engineers in the Classroom

Twenty one engineers are in the classroom the month of October to share their careers with the juniors in the Engineering Pathway. Teachers Jocelyn Long, Mike Marron and Darren Wasser decided that the best way for students to understand the many careers available with an engineering degree was to hear from engineers themselves. Nuclear, aeronautical, chemical, civil, mechanical and biomedical are all represented from companies like Exelon, Merit Medical Systems, DSM, Sikorsky, Main Line Engineering and DiGioia Gray. Students rotate in small groups with each engineer to ask questions such as what a typical day might be to how flexible is an engineering degree for future careers. Our guests also visited the freshman engineering class to talk to students about their engineering notebooks and upcoming design project. And the engineers benefit from the experience too. Kevin Borton, Nuclear Engineer commented on his experience with the students; “these events also recharge my batteries and keep me centered.”  A big thank you to all our partner companies for working with us.
