Our teachers at the Academy are always looking for inspiration where ever they can find it. This week our Art teacher Mrs. Romano had her classes play a unique twist on the popular card game Apples to Apples.
In the game the person in control plays a card with a word, phrase or person’s name on it and then the other players try to find the best “match” in the cards in their hand. Instead Mrs. Romano had one student be the curator and they played a card with a word like Romance written on it. Other students then contributed an image of a famous work of art they felt should be included in a gallery whose focus was that word.
Students then shared why they choose the work they did and students could explain their selections as well. Ultimately a very thought provoking conversation on the meaning of art was had while playing a fun game!
