Math IA’s for Juniors Have Started

Just when we thought we were going to have a break from IA’s, the juniors are taking their turn. This morning one of Mr. Merk’s junior Math SL students enlisted the help of her classmates to collect data for her IA. The focus of her investigation is the correlation between a person’s height and their speed in the 40 yard dash.

A second student is investigating the correlation between internal pressure of a soccer ball and maximum vertical bounce height, while another student is comparing vertical jump height and height.

For those of you that are not familiar with what an IA is, it’s an IB assessment that is completed in the classroom during the course. For math courses, students are allowed to explore any math topic they’ve studied!
